We humans are living, telling and creating stories all the time. One of my stories is with a millionaire. In my early twenties I was a dog sitter for three Labradors, I know… 🙂
The power of awareness
I liked the dogs, we transformed wrong habits that created unhealthy physiological patterns into good and healthy mechanisms. Secretly, I took them for swimming in the pond. I collected meat and bones from the local Thai restaurants’ kitchen and taught them very quietly (without barking or showing signs of excitement) to come to my kitchen for the special treats. They were not supposed to eat meat, you know their look/ image on the green carpet golf course mattered the most versus their well-being.
The owner/ host sometimes was a show-off. I didn’t know much about cars then I know a little bit more about it now. One thing however was clear to me if you have a Ferrari it must come with red shiny paint. To my surprise it was yellow. I remember how shocked I was when he removed the red cover to unveil the yellow sight. He drove me to Waitrose…when he realized that no Ferrari was designed to get a weekly shopping done…I know right?
What drives you?
What a story, the car makes me think about mechanisms, coping, and defensive mechanisms. How important is the mechanical structure, the engine’s sounds that reverberate through the body and reset a certain somatic experience and mindset?
A car like a Ferrari induces a certain mindset, it is about ordering your body to get into a certain rhythm, and vibration to have a structured somatic experience. It fascinates me that a car’s look or engine sounds can remind mainly men of self-contentment. It doesn’t always mean this is a correct mindset. The point is here the somatic experience that comes with a certain biochemistry induced by a well-structured object.
We all have, learnt and embedded default mechanisms that we turn to. Often this mechanism operates from the subconscious therefore it requires a check and balance reflection/ clearance if you like. Does this mechanism serve me? If yes how? If not…
When your car’s mechanism is dysfunctional, the engine doesn’t sound right, you want to know what is wrong, and you want to find the point that requires attention, care, and a fix so you can trust its healthy mechanism again. You know the car’s pattern that is why you want to correct it. Â
Do you know your healthy behavioural pattern?
While the human body is more complex from a Ferrari just like the car’s mechanism requires attention. Do you pay attention when your body signals something or do you dismiss it? And say something like I will come back to it later and you never do. Just know that the body will remember it for you later until you come back to it.
Personal development work
That is what you do when you work with a coach or therapist. People need to learn when you unlearn, learn and relearn you do that to see your worth not because there is something wrong with you. You were wronged but not in the way as others might perceive it. It is about how you have been perceiving it. So do the work as the mechanism that you operate from requires corrections and fixes sometimes.
When a healthy engine’s sound comes on you can feel it in your bones, in your body as it reverberates through your body. Do you know how you sound like not from singing but from your own healthily engineered somatic experience do you know how does that sound like?
I wish you well on your healing journey
